Happy Fourth of July from The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze! Our pumpkin Statue of Liberty is a tribute to the revolutionary history of Van Cortlandt Manor, home of the Blaze. Pierre Van Cortlandt was a Patriot leader and friend of George Washington, while his son, Philip, served as a colonel during the war. Located in the contested "Neutral Ground" between British and Patriot lines, the manor was frequently raided and served as an important transportation hub, with a tavern beside the ferry crossing over the Croton River. This fall, whether you're wandering among thousands of illuminated jack o'lanterns or raising a glass in the historic ferry house that is our The Gourd & Goblet Tavern, you're celebrating on grounds where history truly happened!
